(Level A) $88,286 per annum plus an employer contribution of 9.5% superannuation will apply

The University of Adelaide Enterprise Agreement 2017-2021 will apply to a successful candidate’s employment at the University. The University recently temporarily varied its Enterprise Agreement. Please be advised that the salary range, along with other conditions associated with this position, may change in accordance with the variation to the Enterprise Agreement.

Fixed-term position for 12 months, with possibility of extension of up to 18 months

The ARC Grant-Funded Researcher (A) (Postdoctoral Research Fellow) will conduct theoretical and computational research funded by the Australian Research Council on liquid transport in novel 2D membranes. 

We are seeking a theoretical chemist or physicist with advanced skills and experience in statistical mechanics, molecular simulations, and computational fluid dynamics to conduct research to predict concentration-gradient-driven liquid transport in novel membranes made from two-dimensional nanomaterials. The research is expected to facilitate the rational design of these highly promising membranes for diverse applications from desalination to power generation to chemical sensing.

The successful candidate will work within a research group in soft condensed matter theory and computation in the Department of Chemistry led by Associate Professor David Huang (https://huanggroup.org) in close collaboration with an international team of experimentalists. The candidate is expected to take a leadership role within the team, conducting independent research, supervising research students, and engaging with collaborators.

To be successful you will need:

  • PhD in theoretical chemistry, condensed-matter physics, or a related discipline (or thesis submitted).
  • Demonstrated publication track record in leading scientific journals in soft condensed matter theory or computation.
  • Advanced mathematical and computational skills, including a demonstrated ability to perform numerical and symbolic calculations.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and to work effectively as a member of a research team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
