Manchester Metropolitan University

Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education

Manchester Metropolitan is one of the largest universities in the UK, located at the heart of a vibrant and ambitious city. We trace our roots back to the early part of the nineteenth century, when institutions were established to deliver skills and education for local people, improving livelihoods and the economy. Today, we remain at the heart of this great global city, continuing to play our part in its community and economy, through our teaching, research and innovation, but with impact across the UK and partnerships that span the globe.

The University is committed to creating a truly world-class learning environment. Our education strategy places student experience and student success at the heart of the institution. We have an excellent relationship with our Students’ Union and work closely with them. We continue to use our strong financial position to invest in our physical and digital facilities and systems and to improve our student and academic services. We have invested in our people and partnerships, which has created some of the best mental health support in higher education and led to us being named The Sunday Times University of the Year for Student Retention this year.

As the university continues to innovate in pursuit of excellence, during a period of unprecedented change for higher education, we are now seeking an exceptional Pro-Vice-Chancellor Education. Reporting directly to the Vice-Chancellor, and a critical member of the senior team, you will be responsible for our education strategy and delivery. You will work with great colleagues across the faculties and high-performing professional services, in an exciting, collegial and supportive environment. We are currently refreshing our strategic framework and you will play a key role in setting and delivering our direction and priorities.

We are seeking to appoint a colleague with the vision and ability to lead further transformation of the student journey and who can continue to drive exciting improvements in education. The successful candidate will have a track record of sustained senior leadership, together with first class communication skills and a proven ability to work collaboratively across a diverse range of stakeholders.
