FINANCIAL COORDINATOR, Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), to join the fiscal team of a large, interdisciplinary lab with a diverse sponsor base. Will work with financial officers (FOs) on developing and submitting federal/industry/foundation research proposals; interact with FOs and principal investigators on developing research proposal budgets and administrative content of proposals; monitor financial performance of active grants/contracts, providing updates to verify the proper distribution of resources and use of funds for the CSAIL Alliance Program and World Wide Web Consortium initiatives; and provide financial analysis and oversight, prepare reports, and perform related tasks.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; two-plus years' accounting/finance experience; receptivity to learning new business methods and computational skills and demonstrated record of assuming greater responsibility over time; meticulous attention to detail; excellent interpersonal, customer service, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and verbal and written communication skills; high-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word and ability to learn new procedures/systems; and discretion with confidential information/issues. Must be able to multitask, prioritize, and manage numerous awards with varying degrees of complexity while meeting concurrent deadlines; interact, cultivate trust, and build rapport with a variety of constituents; coordinate projects and complete tasks independently; contribute as part of a team; and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
PREFERRED: knowledge of budget preparation and administration, financial record-keeping, and reporting; financial management/forecasting skills; ability to interpret financial data; related experience with federal contracts and/or financial administration experience in an academic research environment, particularly with research proposal processing and pre-award administration; knowledge of enterprise financial systems, grants management tools, and multidimensional databases; experience working with federal sponsors, including NSF, DoD, and NIH; and MIT experience.
