FINANCIAL OFFICER, Mechanical Engineering (MechE), to administer and oversee pre- and post-award sponsored activities and provide 'cradle-to-grave' contract/grant and financial management for faculty and principal investigators (PIs). Responsibilities include administering all pre-award activities, including reviewing solicitations, proposal and budget development, and proposal submission to MIT Research Administration Services; utilizing the COEUS proposal module for the preparation, routing, and submission of proposals; monitoring the financial performance of grants and contracts to ensure compliance with policies and consistency with the approved budget; preparing standard and nonstandard reports, financial analysis, forecasting, and graphs and spreadsheets for the PIs; handling payroll distribution and certification, cost sharing and matching requirements, and other terms and conditions of awards; ensuring compliance with agency expenditure policies and procedures and award terms and conditions; advising PIs and other faculty and implementing their subsequent decisions; and working with research and administrative staff on pre- and post-award issues.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor's degree; at least five years' related experience in grant management, accounting, or related financial area; initiative; ability to adhere to tight deadlines; strong interpersonal, communication, analysis, and organizational skills; ability to learn changing technologies related to grants and contract management; knowledge of federal guidelines; advanced-level knowledge of Excel and SAP or similar accounting package; and relational database skills. Seek a team player who can also work independently to solve problems with minimal supervision.
PREFERRED: experience with COEUS and Grants.gov and MIT experience. Job #19294-8
