Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic  experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables.   Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.  This position is contingent on funding.

Job Description

We seek a Research Specialist to join our research group to study the function of cytosine modifications in various aspects of biology. In this role, the Research Specialist will be processing samples from internal and external collaborators using a novel sequencing method developed in our laboratory, and working to develop and implement innovative new methods. Hands-on responsibilities may include protein expression/purification, molecular biology techniques, next-generation sequencing, and sequencing analysis. Ideal candidates will have technical skills in executing experiments and also be very organized, have exceptional attention to detail, be good communicators, and have the ability to work well as part of a team.

Duties:

  1. Processing of genomic DNA samples in novel sequencing pipeline - reagent generation, library preparation, sequencing
  2. Optimization of experimental protocols
  3. Recording of data and participation/presentation in weekly meetings
  4. Training of others on established methods
  5. Coordination with external collaborators
  6. Lab and technical equipment maintenance
  7. Assisting with other lab members experiments
  8. Writing, Editing, Review of written documents for publications and grants
  9. Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree and 0-1 year of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
