Job Description Summary
To provide animal care at large canine facility at New Bolton Center Campus. Cleaning/disinfection of kennel runs or cage holding areas on a daily basis. Maintain animals and facilities to be in compliance for various inspections (ex. IACUC, USDA, AAALAC).
Administer medications as directed by veterinarians. Monitor animals after procedures. Must be extremely observant to animals needs and report issues to senior staff. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail required. Ability to work flexible staggered work schedule, (ex: Saturday - Wednesday) and assigned holidays-required. Position located in Kennett Square, PA. No public transportation available. Valid drivers license required.
Job Description
Responsibilities include:
- Daily cleaning/disinfection of canine enclosures - mostly kennel runs – few transport cages.
- Husbandry procedures such as weights, trimming nails, cleaning ears and bathing dogs according to schedule.
- Maintain cleanliness of facility including labs.
- Recover animals after procedures.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED and 1 year of experience with animals or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Must be extremely observant to animal's needs and report issues to senior staff. Excellent communication skills and attention to detail is required. Working a flexible staggered work schedule (example Saturday - Wednesday) and assigned holidays is required. Ability to work well with others and work independently is also a requirement. Valid drivers license is required. POSITION LOCATED IN KENNETT SQ.- NO PUBLIC TRANS. AVAILABLE
Ability to lift over 50 lbs. on a routine basis and to bend, crouch, climb ladders and do physically demanding work on a daily basis is required.
This position is contingent upon grant funding.
Physical Effort
Frequent lifting, occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs,. Typically standing or walking, Intermittently stooping, crouching, bending.
Frequent lifting 25 lbs. or more, climbing ladders/scaffolds
