We are seeking to appoint a Teaching Laboratory Technician, who will be based in the School of Engineering undergraduate teaching laboratories, where they will support the teaching of engineering programmes by providing technical support and experimental demonstrations.
The post holder will be expected to apply their technical and practical knowledge to provide advice, training and assistance to staff and students in the use and application of experimental equipment and techniques. They will work closely with a diverse group of technical and academic staff, assisting in the maintenance and development of the undergraduate laboratory.
The post is student-facing, and its provision of service and contribution to learning is key to the student experience in the teaching laboratories. In addition the post holder is expected to take a proactive approach to their work, making suggestions for improvements in working methods and implementing them under the guidance of their line manager. We are also looking for candidates with proven problem-solving capability and the ability to engage constructively with students and staff while under pressure.
