Part-time: 17.5 Hours per week, Fixed term: 18 Months

The School of Education and Social Sciences is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Research Assistant to work with Dr. Graham Scott, Dr. Liz Boyle and their research team on the Erasmus + funded project: “Developing a Graduate Employability Skills App” (GES APP).

The project is interdisciplinary and the post holder will work closely with staff from the School of Education and Social Sciences and the School of Engineering and Computing at UWS, as well as European partners from Greece, Norway and Poland in the fields of social science, business, pedagogy, educational technology and APP development.

As a core member of the research team you will help to synthesise the results of the early project activities including the Literature review, the review of existing employability related resources and the user requirements analysis and use these to develop ideas, content and activities for the APP. You will also develop support materials that will assist staff and students in making effective use of the APP. You will help with piloting the early prototypes of the APP, as well as evaluating the effectiveness of the final APP. You will help to analyse data and write up the results for reports and publication.

You will be an experienced and highly motivated researcher with excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. The will preferably have a Master’s degree in social science, education, IT or a related discipline. You should good skills in both quantitative and qualitative research and some previous experience of conducting research with human participants. You should have very good knowledge of a range of digital technologies

The post will start on February 2021 and will run half-time for 18 months. Mentoring and support will be provided by experienced staff in the School of Education and Social Sciences.
