Job Description Summary

This position is located at the NEW BOLTON CENTER CAMPUS located in KENNETT SQUARE, PA.  NO public transportation available.   Provide laboratory animal care at a large canine facility in a safe, humane and sanitary manner, adhering to all federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines and policies.  Candidate is responsible for cleaning/disinfection of kennel runs or cage holding areas on a daily basis.  Will also maintain other areas of facility outside of dog rooms.  Ability to feed animals and  administer medications as directed by veterinarians.  Monitor animals after anesthesia procedures.   The work schedule for this position is Saturday through Wednesday.  Required to work rotating holidays. Valid drivers license required.

Job Description

Provide excellent dog care in a safe, humane and sanitary manner, adhering to all federal, state, local and University regulations, guidelines and policies. Cleaning/disinfection of primary animal enclosures daily. Provide basic animal husbandry (trim nails, clean ears, weigh animals, give baths, administer medications, etc) . Makes observations and reports findings of animal health to senior staff. Maintain physical facility (clean labs, trash removal, mop hallways, etc.). Provide special feedings when needed. Monitor animals after anesthesia procedures. Assist with transport of dogs to satellite facilities (VHUP). The work schedule for this position is Saturday through Wednesday. Required to work rotating holidays. Valid drivers license required.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED Required, with 1-2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must have valid drivers license.

MUST HAVE OWN TRANSPORTATION AS POSITION IS LOCATED IN KENNETT SQUARE, PA.

Physical Effort

Frequent lifting, occasionally need to lift up to 50 lbs,. Typically standing or walking, Intermittently stooping, crouching, bending.
