  • Remuneration at Academic Level B ($98,495 - $116,965) + 17% superannuation

The School of Health and Biomedical Sciences comprises three Academic Clusters (Allied Health, Applied Health, and Biomedical Sciences). Primarily based at the RMIT Bundoora campus, we undertake teaching and research across ten disciplines: Chinese Medicine, Chiropractic, Exercise Science, Human Biosciences, Laboratory Medicine, Medical Radiations, Nursing, Osteopathy, Pharmacy and Psychology. Many of our programs include Work Integrated Learning as an intrinsic part of student learning, both through placements in partner industries and through the Universitys student led Health Sciences Clinic located at Bundoora.

Discipline of Medical Radiations

The discipline of Medical Radiations contributes to teaching and research in the field of medical radiations broadly, and Medical Imaging, Radiation Therapy and Nuclear Medicine specifically, in the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences. The undergraduate program enables graduates to be eligible for registration to practice as Medical Imaging Technologists, Radiation Therapists or Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Australia under Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA). The program is structured to integrate foundation sciences, clinical sciences, communication skills and clinical skills to produce capable graduates that can practice as healthcare professionals with attributes relevant to their stream. There is also a strong focus on Work Integrated Learning to ensure students are exposed to real-life clinical scenarios from the time they begin their studies within the discipline. Staff and students in the discipline have the opportunity to work on state-of-the-art equipment across all streams.

About You and the Role

You will be responsible:

  • Deliver high-quality & efficient teaching activities within activities within the Undergraduate programs of the Nuclear Medicine stream, as well as focusing on maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities;
  • Perform and deliver high-impact research/scholarly activities both independently and as a member of the team, including publishing research outcomes as lead or co-author in highly ranked journals, conferences and forums, submitting and actively identifying appropriate research grants & funding, involvement in collaborative projects and supervision of higher degree by research students;
  • Work collaboratively with a team of committed cross-disciplinary staff to provide a high level of teaching and research quality in the STEM College and the Discipline of Medical Radiations;
  • Commitment to perform academic administrative and to deliver full academic responsibilities relating to the coordination of an award program, year or course;
  • Effectively engage and promote the program through developing networks, maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic members, industry and professional communities; as well as participate in the on-going process improvement within this discipline and across the School of Health and Biomedical Sciences.

Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD with relevant industry experience.

  • Registered with APHRA as Nuclear Medicine Technologist.
  • Evidence of eligibility for Victorian Department of Health Radiation License.

Desirable:

  • Candidates with proven teaching and research as well as experience in preparing high-quality curriculum and course materials at tertiary level for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Nuclear Medicine will be advantageous.
  • Candidates who have in-depth knowledge and/or hands-on experience teaching in areas of general nuclear medicine, Positron Emission Tomography and Nuclear Therapy are encouraged to apply.
  • Evidence of competitive academic and published research in high quality outputs such as journals, forums, conferences and contributing to the development of new research initiatives, external research funding submissions and strong linkage to industry and government will be highly regarded.

Preferred: Completion of the Essentials in Tertiary Teaching Practice program or equivalent (if the appointed candidate does not meet this requirement at time of appointment, they will be supported to complete this as a requirement to fulfil their probation).

Note: Appointment to this position is subject to passing a Working with Children check.
