Licensed Clinical Social Worker
This Clinical Social Worker will be a member of an ambulatory multi-disciplinary treatment team at the Connecticut Mental Health Center (CMHC), and will provide individual, group and family treatment with responsibility for the development of comprehensive psychosocial assessments, crisis response plans and recovery-oriented treatment plans. The successful candidate for this position will have considerable experience in providing outpatient behavioral health services to adults with serious mental illness, some with co-occurring substance use disorders. In addition, the successful candidate will have significant experience in the development and leading of group treatment for this population.
- Plans and coordinates services for family and group therapy programs, parent groups and discharge programs.
- Provides direct psychotherapeutic treatment to severely ill individuals and families and supervises other assigned staff members
- Completes psychosocial assessments, mental status examinations, and diagnostic assessments and translates this information into medically necessary, multidisciplinary treatment plans.
- Provides individual and group therapy consistent with evidence-based practice protocols for primary mental health, addiction, and co-occurring populations.
- Develops new techniques for family treatment and clinical supervision of students. Anticipates problems and determines priorities.
- Evaluates treatment progress and presents findings and recommendations for change at treatment team meetings.
- Coordinates and provides clinical case management services, including referrals to appropriate levels of care.
- Provides crisis intervention and clinical triage to facilitate necessary services, such as inpatient hospitalization, when indicated.
- Researches, develops and implements programs which enhance both inpatient and outpatient services of unit. Monitors discharge status of patients.
- Collaborates with families, medical and clinical staff, administrators, insurance agencies, etc. to assure their integration into the treatment planning process, as indicated.
- Supervises a staff of exempt and non-exempt employees.
- May perform other duties as assigned.
Required Education and Experience
Master's Degree in Social Work and two years of experience in a psychiatric care setting or the equivalent combination of experience and education.
Required Skill/Ability 1:
Ability to provide clinical assessment and develop individualized plans of recovery for adults with serious and prolonged mental illness including co-occurring substance abuse disorders.
Required Skill/Ability 2:
Ability to provide individual, group and family treatment to adults with behavioral health disorders.
Required Skill/Ability 3:
Ability to work in a highly integrated, collaborative manner with members of an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Required Skill/Ability 4:
Well-developed written and oral communication skills.
Required Skill/Ability 5:
Ability to fully document all aspects of clinical services utilizing a personal computer and/or other electronic devices.
Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:
State of CT Licensed Clinical Social Worker
Required Licenses or Certifications
State of Connecticut Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or State of Connecticut Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC).
