Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Faculty of Education (Ref.: 502969), to commence on February 1, 2021 or as soon as possible thereafter until August 31, 2022.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree in Education, Chinese Language, Linguistics, Psychology, Social Science, Cognitive Science or related disciplines; a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (Cantonese); proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (including Word, Excel and PowerPoint); solid advanced statistical skills; good interpersonal and organisational skills; and the ability to work within a multidisciplinary team. Preference will be given to those who have experience in conducting research in language education, teacher development and relevant areas, with academic publication experience.

The appointee will work on a project on learning Chinese as a second language (CSL) for kindergarteners and developing teachers’ skills in teaching CSL. He/She will assist the Project Investigators and the Research Manager to oversee all research elements in the project, including performing literature review, designing research instruments for collection and analysis of research data, writing research reports, summarisation and conceptualisation of research findings for project dissemination. He/She will also need to provide research support for the preparation of the curriculum guide, learning and teaching resources, K3-P1 transition and teacher professional development, and perform other duties as assigned.
