Job Description Summary

A skilled laboratory technician that performs technical mechanical or diagnostic tests in medical or scientific laboratories.

Job Description

The Research Technician will assist the laboratory manager with performing basic laboratory maintenance tasks and other laboratory projects, as assigned. The individual will assist senior level researchers with various supervised research projects within the lab. The technician will carry out routine tasks such as preparation of media and reagents, place orders for supplies, help maintain inventory and place lab equipment in their designated areas at the end of the day. He/she will gather data from experiments, complete data entry and analyze data in collaboration with Principal Investigators and postdoctoral researchers - with the intent of presenting research results in laboratory meetings. In addition, the technician will perform bench research, mouse colony management, genotyping, cell culture, lab management and other lab duties as necessary.

Qualifications

H.S. Diploma or GED and 0-1 year of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Candidates with a recent Bachelor’s degree should have prior lab research experience in the field of biology and/or molecular biology. Candidate should be organized and have record of good bookkeeping and organization skills. Highly motivated and diligent candidates are encouraged to apply. This position is contingent upon grant funding.
