Job Description Summary

Designs and performs routine to complex laboratory experiments and scientific procedures relating to assigned research project(s). Records, interprets and analyzes results using prescribed methods or developing new techniques. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe laboratory. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, and maintains accurate laboratory records and adequate supplies. Assists senior-level research personnel with related duties as required.

Designs and performs routine to complex laboratory experiments and scientific procedures relating to assigned research project(s). Records, interprets and analyzes results using prescribed methods or developing new techniques. Maintains an orderly, clean and safe laboratory. Operates and maintains laboratory equipment, and maintains accurate laboratory records and adequate supplies. Assists senior-level research personnel with related duties as required.​

(A) Molecular biology benchwork as assigned: nucleic acid and protein isolation/purification, Western blotting, PCR, qRT-PCR
(B) Design and execute independent molecular biology research projects utilizing sterile cell culture including iPSC cells, qPCR, IHC, Western Blot, and Advanced Microscopy techniques

Assist with animal experiments including general animal husbandry management including genotyping, designing complex multi-transgene crosses, tissue dissection, and advanced cardiac imaging with SPECT and echocardiography

Daily maintenance tasks for lab including making stock solutions, ordering, inventory/package receiving, University Compliance procedures/updating protocols for IACUC, EHRS, Radiation Safety

Analyze data, prepare data reports/powerpoint slides and participate in laboratory meetings 

Perform additional duties as assigned

Qualifications

BA/BS and 1-3 years experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
