Research Assistant (Clinical Trials) (Contract)_Department of Medicine NUS 

Roles & Responsibilities

To assist with management of clinical trials in a large programme of clinical research in tuberculosis. The post involves collaborating with doctors, nurses, laboratory staff, clinical researchers, statisticians and data managers located both in Singapore and internationally to deliver high-quality clinical trials and related scientific work. For the right candidate, the post represents an ideal opportunity to learn practical aspects of conducting clinical trials within an established, internationally-competitive, clinical research group. 

Job Scope

  • Oversight of submissions to ethics committees and regulatory authorities
  • Working with clinical research sites to ensure compliance with study protocols and timelines, advising on all aspects of study conduct and detecting and correcting protocol violations 
  • Setting up and maintaining electronic and hardcopy trial master files 
  • Ensuring compliance with study procedures at central and site laboratories
  • Oversee and facilitate the procurement, purchasing and delivery of study drugs, laboratory consumables, and equipment and monitor inventories
  • Coordinate the shipments of laboratory consumables and samples between countries
  • Assist with budget and contract negotiations; reviewing and approving invoices  
  • Organise and coordinate trial meetings with internal and external stakeholders
  • Manage general study communications between relevant parties

The Requirements 

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in nursing, life sciences, medical science or equivalent preferred
  • Some relevant experience of clinical or laboratory research in tuberculosis or infectious diseases would be a bonus, but is not essential. 
  • Possess excellent project management, organizational and coordination skills
  • Possess strong interpersonal skills 
  • Good verbal and written, communication and presentation skills 
  • Read, write and speak fluent English
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite: Excel, Word, Power Point, and Outlook
  • Team Player who can motivate and build effective relationships with colleagues 
  • Meticulous with an attention to detail
  • Able to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Flexible and adaptable at work
