Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Prof IP Yuen Kwong on phosphate and bicarbonate transporters in giant clam under a project on Mechanisms of uptake and transport of phosphate and bicarbonate in the fluted giant clam.

The main responsibilities of the position include

  1. Publication
  2. Perform research experiments to gather information and data
  3. Supervision of Undergraduate students undertaking research work
  4. Procurement of research lab supplies and materials

Qualifications / Discipline:

  • At least a BSc degree in Life Sciences
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant research work experience in molecular environmental physiology in marine organism (giant clam) is preferred.

Skills:

Possess scientific and technical skills in:

  • Western blotting
  • Immunofluorescence microscopy
  • Real-time polymerase chain reaction
  • Cloning
  • Polymerase chain reaction
  • Primer designing
  • RNA extraction and cDNA synthesis
  • Protein extraction
  • Manuscript preparation
  • Mentoring students
