Role Description

Cranfield University School of Management welcomes applications for this exciting opportunity to lead and develop an existing world-class research centre in gender, leadership and inclusion. The School is seeking an individual who can providing intellectual leadership and business development for this centre, as well as providing teaching and learning activities in the areas of both leadership and diversity and inclusion.

The Changing World of Work group focuses on examining the implications of the changing work context on managing people and organisations and brings together expertise in the areas of Human Resource Management, Employment Relations, Leadership, Organisational Behaviour and Gender, Diversity and Inclusion in order to explore and address these changes.  The Group provides thought leadership in areas such as gender and leadership, generational diversity, global mobility, HR and technology, flexible and agile working, employee engagement, career development and management and performance management.  The group works closely with employers, government, consultants and policy groups to provide support in understanding and responding to these changes, via research, consultancy and executive development. 

You will report directly to the Group Head, Professor Emma Parry, who is also the Head of the Work and Learning Centre.  Prof. Parry reports directly to the Dean and PVC School. You will be expected to work with the Group Head and others to build a strong portfolio of research, create new knowledge and develop impactful contributions to both academic, practitioner and government constituents. 

Gender, leadership and inclusion is a focal and important area of Cranfield’s activity. The Gender, Leadership and Inclusion Centre (GLIC) is a thriving research community that bridges research and practice in the areas of gender, diversity, leadership and inclusion at work. 

You will also provide teaching in the field of gender, diversity and leadership, and also in the broader area of leadership, for qualification and executive development programmes, as well as designing and developing teaching material.  In addition, you will be expected to take on a small number of doctoral students in the field of diversity and leadership. You will undertake managerial and leadership responsibilities as appropriate.

You will be educated to doctoral level (or equivalent) in a relevant subject and will have already developed some reputation in this field through publications, conference presentations and winning research income. With excellent communication skills, you will be able to collaborate effectively with academics, practitioners and policy makers.  Experience of leadership, or of working with external clients is desirable.
