TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE, Biological Engineering (BE) and Koch Institute (KI) for Integrative Cancer Research, to join the lab of Professor Ram Sasisekharan. Research areas include advancement of analytical techniques for monoclonal antibody characterization to explore the utilization of critical quality attribute measurements, earlier in the clone selection and drug development process, as a strategy to bring biologics to market faster. Will operate state-of-the-art lab instruments (mass spectrometer (MS), high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) machines, light scattering (LS) detector, liquid handler robot), execute established methods on the instruments, perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot, discuss data with supervisors, and contribute to ongoing projects in the lab. Will also assist with other projects as time permits; prepare samples for the instruments and optimize instrument methods if needed; prepare reports with thoughtful presentation of experimental results, issues, and updates; provide careful documentation of experimental procedures; and maintain confidentiality and security of project information.
REQUIRED: B.S./B.A. (master’s preferred) in chemistry, bioengineering, or other relevant scientific field; at least two years’ experience in a chemistry/biology laboratory setting; demonstrated interest in analytical chemistry and/or instrumentation; excellent organizational, planning, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills; self-motivation; detail-orientation; and ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow complex instructions, plan and troubleshoot experiments, multitask, carefully document work in written records, prepare detailed reports with analysis, and work in a fast-paced and dynamic research environment. One year of experience independently working with at least one of the aforementioned instruments highly preferred. In-depth knowledge of the theory of mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography, and light scattering highly desirable.
