The Earth Observatory in Singapore (EOS) invite applications for a Research Fellow to investigate volcanic processes combining monitoring and experimental approaches.

Job Responsibilities

  • Characterize, through analogue modelling, volcanic conduit dynamic and associated monitoring signature
  • Conduct, if/when possible, field measurement of degassing at active volcanoes
  • Expected to publish the scientific outcomes of this research in high quality, peer-reviewed, international scientific journals
  • Will have the opportunity to participate in the various volcanology-related education and outreach activities of the Earth Observatory of Singapore and the Asian School of the Environment

Job Requirements

  • PhD degree in volcanology
  • Prior experience in analogue modelling.  First-hand experience of field measurement is an advantage
  • Mastering of a programming language would be valued (e.g. Python, Matlab…)
  • Self-driven, highly motivated, with interest to work with other researchers and scientists (team player) to produce high-quality research

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
