Energy Research Institute @ NTU invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
- System modelling, problem formulation and solving
- Integration of the uncertainties and the definition of the problem constraints/objectives
- Work closely with the energy forecast team that will provide some of the problem inputs, and the software team that will integrate the developed algorithms in the DERMS platform
Job Requirements:
- PhD Degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering, specialized in Power System Distribution Network
- Minimum 2 to 5 years of experience
- Have an established publication record in a relevant field - Electrical Engineering or Computer Science with expertise in power systems / Microgrid / Energy Management System analysis and optimization
- Core expertise in developing algorithms in a multistage optimization process mixing look ahead decisions and near real time control
- Solid knowledge & Strong expertise in :
- DER modelling and operation - photovoltaic panels, storage systems, electrical vehicles. Energy Management Strategies - model predictive control, hierarchical control architectures
- Expertise in constrained optimization methods and algorithms – convex optimization (LP,QP), mixed integer programming, dynamic programming, heuristics, among others
- Experience in optimization under uncertainties - robust optimization, interval, scenario-based stochastic optimization, chance constraints, among others
- Simulation/modelling and development tools – Matlab, Python, Java, C, etc;
- Mathematical Language Programming and experience in optimization solvers would be a plus – GAMS, Julia, YALMIP, CPLEX, GUROBI, GLPK, among others
- Power System Analysis for distribution networks/ Microgrid – load flow, contingency mitigation, losses reduction, voltage profiles optimization, grid reconfiguration, MV/LV network modelling – Economic Dispatch and Unit Commitment
- Experience in co-simulation with power analysis tools would be appreciated - ETAP, PowerFactory, Open DSS, GridLabD, among others
- Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to present clearly and concisely
- Ability to work in an international environment, learn from experienced researchers and transfer knowledge
