Job Description Summary

This position is based in the Penn Frontotemporal Degeneration Center, part of the Department of Neurology of the University of Pennsylvania's Perelman School of Medicine. The purpose of this position is to coordinate early phase clinical trials through the University of Pennsylvania Frontotemporal Degeneration Center. This position involves working with patients who have rare neurodegenerative diseases, often individuals who are mutation carriers, and may exhibit difficulties with language, behavior, memory, and movement. Responsibilities include: Helping to recruit, consent, and enroll participants; Performing assessments according to the protocol including neuropsychological testing, questionnaires for patients and caregivers; Performing clinical assessments such as phlebotomy, vitals, ECG, and assisting with lumbar punctures; Scheduling, obtaining, and shipping MRI imaging; Handling, processing and shipping of biofluids; Data entry; Query management; Maintaining regulatory documents and binder for clinical trials; Assisting with managing budgets and invoicing for clinical trials; Assisting with preparing and submitting IRB documents for clinical trials; Pre-trial activities such as helping to develop budgets, assisting budget negotiations for new clinical trials; Maintaining University of Pennsylvania, FDA, and GCP standards and guidelines.

Job Description

This position's primary function is to facilitate, promote, and ensure good clinical practice in the conduct of all research protocols in the Frontotemporal Degeneration Center in the Department of Neurology. Major responsibilities include helping to manage and conduct different phases of complex, early phase clinical trials, including helping with recruitment, consenting, and enrolling participants, administering clinical scales, questionnaires and neuropsychological measures, helping to collect and process biofluids, scheduling and uploading MRI scans, entering data to sponsor's database, responding to sponsor's queries. Working with team members, the successful candidate will help develop and manage budget, and develop and submit regulatory documents. Participates in study team meetings, disease site group meetings, and ongoing protocol training/compliance meetings. Adheres to all University and other regulatory guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 2-4 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
