Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.

This position is contingent upon funding.

Job Description

The research specialist generally will provide support to the PI and members of the lab, in lab organization and in carrying out experiments, including experiment planning, data collection and analysis. Lab organization dues will include routine ordering, record-keeping, organizing and maintaining items and equipment in the lab and serving as lab safety officer. Experimental duties will include carrying out experimental tasks including western blotting, immunostaining and microscopy (involving cells, animal tissues and human tissues) independently with collection and analysis of data. The position also involves assisting with rodent work including rodent breeding, tissue harvest and record-keeping. The employee will be taught to carry out rodent surgeries and will be expected to carry these out independently.

In addition to the above, the Research Specialist B will be required to work Semi-independent manner with close guidance from the PI, accomplishing most tasks on his or her own, ordering lab supplies, and maintaining lab regulatory approvals. Other expectations of this position include attending and presenting data during lab meetings and assisting other members of the lab as needed Position is contingent upon funding.

Qualifications

Research Specialist A - Bachelor's Degree in biology, biochemistry or bio-engineering required and 0-1 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Some working experience in a biological laboratory is required. Experience with liver research and rodent handling is a plus. Experience with immuostaining, microscopy and cell culture is also desirable.

Research Specialist B - Bachelor's Degree in biology, biochemistry or bio-engineering required and 1-3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Some working experience in a biological laboratory is required. Experience with liver research and rodent handling is a plus. Experience with immuostaining, microscopy and cell culture is also desirable.
