Job Description

The Penn Image-Guided Interventions Laboratory and the Center for Lymphatics in the Departments of Radiology and Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania are seeking a highly motivated and organized Research Specialist. The research interests of our laboratory lie at the intersection of image-guided interventions lymphatic interventions, lymphatic biology, development of new lymphatic imaging agents and molecular imaging. Our lab is studying the metabolism of the lymphatic imaging agents, the changes in the liver lymphatic system in liver cirrhosis and developing and testing of the new lymphatic imaging agents. The lab utilizes a multidisciplinary approach from in vivo animal models of lymphatic pathology, biochemistry, molecular biology, and molecular imaging strategies. Our research emphasizes translation with the ultimate goal of leveraging our findings to develop novel imaging and therapeutic strategies for patients.

The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, enthusiastic, and have excellent  organizational skills. This position offers the opportunity to participate in an innovative research environment. gain hands-on experience with a variety of experimental techniques, and make critical contributions to primary research publications. Qualified individuals will be expected to maintain animal colonies, perform necropsy, tissue processing, immunohistochemistry/immunofluorescence, and assist and perform with other lab personnel with experimental procedures and analyses. Additional duties include but are not limited to: animal surgeries, animal husbandry, DNA preparation, RNA isolation, protein purification and preparation, PCR-based genotyping, RT-PCR, Western Blotting, molecular subcloning, cell culture, immunofluorescence, live cell imaging as well as NMR spectroscopy and spectral analysis.

Position contingent upon funding.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
