Job Description

Research Specialist A, the successful applicant will participate in developing immunodeficient mouse models of head and neck cancer using patient-derived tumors and utilize these models in basic and translational research. Prior experience in basic or translational research. Basic skills in clinical research, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, cell signaling, stem cell biology, cellular metabolism, and/or immunology are helpful. Projects will incorporate themes of cancer stem cell biology, cell signaling, and targeted drug therapy. Responsibilities will also include obtaining patient informed consent, in-vitro experiments, database maintenance, and lab maintenance. Accurate record keeping, excellent organization skills, and a high degree of professionalism and independence are critical.

Research Specialist B will have prior experience in basic and/or translational research, and experience with mouse in vivo studies is strongly desired. Expertise in clinical research, molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, cell signaling, stem cell biology, cellular metabolism, and/or immunology are helpful. Ability to keep accurate records, excellent organization skills, and a high degree of professionalism and independence are critical.

Expertise in require effective problem-solving abilities; communication and writing skills are critical.  Applicant must possess the ability to work as part of a team, as well as independently.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

Qualifications:

Research Specialist A:

Minimum experience is a Bachelor's degree 0 years (specifically looking for someone straight out of college)

Research Specialist B:

The minimum of a Bachelor's degree and 1 to 3 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience are required. In particular, experience working with in vitro cancer models and in vivo mouse models is strongly desirable.
