As part of the Neuropsychiatry Division in the Department of Psychiatry, the Brain Behavior Lab (BBL) at Penn Medicine is devoted to the study of brain and behavior using innovative neuroimaging research techniques and the application of bioinformatics resources.  The Neuroimaging Research Coordinator A will oversee the the collection of MRI data from recruitment through quality assessment and data analysis.

Neuroimaging Research Coordinator A

Position Description:

We are seeking a full-time Neuroimaging Research Coordinator to join our team immediately. This position offers a highly interdisciplinary research experience, combining approaches from cognitive neuroscience, experimental psychology, and psychiatry with neuroimaging. Responsibilities include identifying and recruiting eligible study subjects; conducting informed consent/assent process, preparing participants for MRI scanning, MRI data acquisition and quality assessment. Other duties include maintaining accurate, complete and timely records, including source documents, consent forms, protocol documents, and regulatory documents, as required by IRB. She/he will also work on uploading data in relevant databases and accurately maintaining project databases and other participant related information.

We are looking for someone who is detail oriented and can trouble-shoot independently while recognizing when to ask questions. Comfort and skill with working with a diverse patient population is essential. There will also be opportunities to gain research experience in additional areas, such as in data analysis, scientific plans and manuscript preparation with the project investigators.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in neuropsychology, neuroscience, biology, bioengineering or a related field with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Position continued on continued funding.

  • Prior experience in neuroimaging research
  • Assists with organizing and scheduling assessments/tests/activities to meet research objectives and study protocol compliance. Communicates with study team personnel to ensure study procedures are followed and research is performed as described in protocol. Serves as contact for subjects, study personnel, Institutional Review Board (IRB) and study sponsor.
  • Participates in assessing patient eligibility.  Assists in coordinating study participant activities including recruitment, screening, orientation and correspondence. Schedules subject appointments, tests, and procedures coordinating with external providers as needed.  Produces reports and other materials, as directed.
  • Assists with data collection for research studies following established data collection and management procedures. Collects, records, enters and prepares data for analysis. Performs preliminary study analysis under the direction of the Principal Investigator or senior coordinators. Collects pertinent information from study participants through interviews, administration of tests or surveys or questionnaires, medical records review, or other collection procedures.
  • Maintains accurate, complete and timely records, including source documents, consent forms, case report forms, protocol documents, and regulatory documents, as required by sponsor and institutional guidelines.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in neuropsychology, neuroscience, biology, bioengineering or a related field with 1-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. An advanced degree is preferred. Child abuse background check will be required. Position contingent upon continued grant funding.
