Applications are invited for a post-doctoral Research Fellow position for an interdisciplinary research project involving the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA. The project will involve collaborative research and travel between NTU Singapore and MIT, Cambridge, MA, USA.

Job Description

The project involves machine learning constitutive relation development and elastic strain engineering (computational simulations of mechanical properties of materials and ground-state and excited-state electronic properties), and employs a variety of experimental and computational tools. Special emphasis will be placed on using deep learning and neural network methods that combine machine learning with DFT and/or finite-element materials modeling approaches.

Job Requirements

  • Have an earned doctorate degree in physics, applied mathematics, chemistry, materials science, or mechanical engineering
  • Prior post-doctoral experience is not necessary

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
