Project Officer, Mathematics/Engineering/Economics

Job Details

A Project Officer position is currently available in the School of Social Sciences.

Job Responsibilities

  • Literature review on central bank digital currencies, monetary policies, and assets and labor markets
  • Write codes in Matlab and R- and similar software to build DSGE models and to analyze the data
  • Collect data from databases such as Datastream-Thompson-Reuters, Bloomberg, CEIC database, International Financial Statistics, World Economic Indicators etc.., clean and merge the data
  • Run model simulations and calculate welfare from the model
  • Write up the model specifications
  • Tabulate the results from the simulation, parameter and welfare estimates and the data analyses

Job Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in mathematics or engineering with at least a minor in economics
  • Good academic record from a reputable university
  • Proficient in programming language Matlab and R, and other statistical packages
  • Proficient in mathematical modelling and numerical simulation, econometric and other quantitative approaches
  • Excellent command of oral and written communication skills

About Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF)

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
