The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for our Research Fellow position.

Job Description:

  • Perform fundamental and applied research in structural health monitoring with applications to civil, mechanical and related disciplines
  • Lead/engage in research activities encompassing theory development, computation, experiments in lab and field setting, collaboration, dissemination and impact activities with academia, industry and government agencies
  • Assist in supervising student projects and related activities

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Civil, Mechanical Engineering or related disciplines
  • Independent, self-motivated and creative, with a strong interest in a research and academic career
  • Excellent technical writing (e.g., journal papers & reports) in English, good English communication skills
  • Proficiency with Matlab
  • Strong research skills with structural dynamics (theory and computation), stochastic process and random vibrations, modal/system identification, probabilistic methods
  • Experience with vibration experiments in laboratory
  • High quality research publication
  • Preferably with experience in vibration experiments in field setting
  • Interest / experience with data science theory, programming and related IT

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
