City, Data Science Institute (CityDSI) brings together data science expertise within the University and acts as a focal point for coordinating and promoting multidisciplinary research. The Institute of Cybersecurity (ICS) was established to bring together world class cyber security education, research and innovation carried out across City. The successful candidate will be based at CityDSI and ICS and the appointment forms part of an exciting and cutting edge Innovate UK funded research programme in the fields of Computer Vision and Deep Learning.

The project is a collaboration with commercial partners at Yuvoh Analytics, a UK-based company which provide a sophisticated data-driven property and asset valuation platform for the real estate industry.

The role involves the development and implementation of explainable image classification approaches to extract marketable information that can help improve Yuvoh’s existing valuation models. The appointed candidate will carry out both independent and collaborative research with Yuvoh and its academic partners; prepare and make presentations on the work to the Yuvoh teams and its academic partners at major meetings and conferences; write up the work, in consultation with the Principal/Co Investigator team, for journal and/or conference publications and/or reports for presentation as well as contribute actively to the research of the Institute in the areas of deep learning and computer vision.

Person Specification
The successful candidate must have an honours and postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline to Data Science/AI. Appropriate and equivalent professional qualifications will also be considered. They must have specialist knowledge in the fields of machine learning and big data analysis including experience in developing/evaluating deep learning models for Computer Vision tasks; expert knowledge of the Python programming language and good working knowledge of a Python deep learning framework such as Tensorflow, Pytorch or Keras. Knowledge/experience of working within the field of explainable AI would be desirable.
