SILC is the successful Sino-Foreign joint institute between UTS and SHU, established in 1994. The partnership between UTS-SHU is significant due to the multiple activities and educational developments achieved, including the development of joint research centres, collaborative PhD programs, student and staff exchanges and other academic pursuits. Both universities are committed to working on the further development of SILC.

About the Role

The role of Director, UTS Learning Centre (SILC) is a pivotal role for both UTS and SHU, based full time in Shanghai at SILC. SILC has approximately 3,500 students enrolled at any one time. You will be required to travel to Sydney to attend meetings and workshops at UTS from time to time.

You will be responsible for the overall management of the UTS Learning Centre at the SILC Business School (SILC), Shanghai University (SHU) including:

  • oversight of the current and future course offerings such as short form of learning;
  • general supervision and recruitment of UTS staff, including joint appointments with SHU;
  • course accreditation and quality assurance process’, student administration and services;
  • the support of major UTS activities in Shanghai, including the annual SILC and UTS graduation ceremonies and other events.

About You

You will have a working knowledge of the structure and organisation of tertiary education in Australia and China and previous exposure to Chinese business culture, along with fluency in reading and speaking both Chinese (Putonghua) and English language.

You will also have:

  • An ability to identify, design and manage international educational programs
  • Capacity to develop, implement and monitor compliance with a wide range of administrative policies, systems and procedures
  • Teaching and educational development experience at a tertiary education level
  • A PhD relevant to SILC programs (Engineering and IT or Business).

The role will be appointed at the level of Associate Professor or Professor.

Remuneration & Benefits

A competitive salary and benefits package will be offered at a level up to the equivalent to the UTS Associate Professor (Level D) or Professor (Level E), dependant on experience and track record. This appointment will be on a 3 year fixed-term basis.
