Job Description

The Department of Cognitive Sciences at the United Arab Emirates University has a vacancy for an Assistant Professor of Philosophy. AOS and AOC are open, but the successful candidate would be expected to coordinate and teach the Minor in Citizenship (social & political philosophy) and to teach General Education courses in applied ethics and/or critical thinking. Those who also have competence in philosophy of cognitive science may be preferred. Female candidates are particularly encouraged to apply. The Department of Cognitive Sciences at UAEU is dynamic and diverse, with an excellent track record in research.

We seek a collegial, congenial and talented colleague in the discipline of philosophy. The UAEU is located in the city Al Ain (emirate of Abu Dhabi), on the border with Oman and about 1.5 hours’ drive from both Dubai and Abu Dhabi cities. There is also a modest relocation allowance and a generous furniture allowance on appointment, as well as other benefits, such as an education subsidy for children. Minimum Qualification

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in philosophy.

Preferred Qualification

We are seeking an energetic researcher, well-published in highly-ranked international journals, and with well-established international research networks. The successful candidate is expected to have a well-developed research plan, with the potential to attract competitive grant funding.

Expected Skills/Rank/Experience

The language of instruction is English, in which native or near-native competence is required.
