Research Fellow
Faculty of Business and Law

Applications are invited for a 10 month fixed term research fellow working on a funded research project about data-driven approaches to Covid-19. This would be an exciting opportunity for someone interested in issues of law, technology and rights during the Covid-19 pandemic.

The role is full-time for a fixed period of 10 months from January 2021 and will involve remote working with some limited UK travel where possible to support project interviews.

The position is part of the AHRC-funded Observatory for Monitoring Data-Driven Approaches to Covid-19 ('OMDDAC'). The RA will support a number of work packages which apply an interdisciplinary mixed-methods approach to the assessment of legal, ethical, policy, technical and operational challenges of the key data-driven approaches deployed to address the Covid-19 pandemic.

The candidate will work with Marion Oswald, Claire Bessant and Charlotte Emmett and other members of the research team including researchers from the Royal United Services Institute.

The ideal candidate will have or be working towards the completion of a PhD in law or another relevant discipline (or equivalent experience).  Knowledge of data protection and privacy law and an interest in technology is essential.  Knowledge of medical law is desirable.  Previous experience of working on interdisciplinary research projects and experience in qualitative research are desirable.
