Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Physics (Ref.: 502419) to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in Physics or equivalent, and be able to demonstrate a strong research track record including refereed publications in top journals. They should have excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and research leadership, the ability to work independently and in a team, and supervise Ph.D. students. Applicants with experience in multi-wavelength data analysis from radio to gamma rays (e.g. Chandra, XMM, Swift, AstroSat, HXMT, FAST, GMRT), space-astronomy missions and large ground based facilities in terms of winning telescope time, and publishing related papers as well as expertise in gamma-ray astronomy, both with ground-based (e.g. MAGIC, HAWC) and space-based (e.g. Fermi-LAT) instruments would have an advantage.  The appointee will conduct research in collaboration with the Laboratory for Space Research (LSR). He/She will work with Dr. Pablo Saz Parkinson, Dr. Stephen C.Y. Ng and other members of the Department and LSR to pursue research in areas primarily related but not necessarily limited to neutron stars, pulsar wind nebulae, supernova remnants, gravitational waves, searches for electromagnetic counterparts of gravitational wave events, multi-wavelength, radio, X-ray, and gamma-ray data analysis.  Enquiries about the post should be sent to Dr. Saz Parkinson at pablosp@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
