Research Associate in computational biology / data analytics

The Transcription and Chromatin Regulation Laboratory is recruiting an innovation and motivated Research Associate in computational biology or data analytics to contribute to investigating the changes of genomic and epigenomic profiles (e.g. enhancer-gene interactions) during cancer progression. We are a team of experimental and computational biologists at the School of Biological Sciences, NTU who are focused on elucidating the enhancer reprogramming and chromatin dynamics during cancer development. The overall goal of our funded projects is to uncover the impact of oncogenic/inflammatory mediators and non-coding RNAs on enhancer regulation, leading to the activation of cancer driver genes (Nature Cell Biology 2015, 17: 1327-38; PNAS 2016, 113: 14402-07; Nature Communications 2018, 9: 3183).

The successful candidate should be familiar in working with some of the genomics data including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, ATAC-seq and Hi-ChIP and possess a keen interest in developing algorithms or bioinformatics pipelines for multi-omics data integration. Prior knowledge in cancer biology or chromatin regulation will be highly advantageous.

We are looking for exceptional candidates with:

  • A recent MSc graduate (or 1-2 years working experience) in the relevant areas of computer science, statistics, computational biology or bioinformatics;
  • Strong programming skills in R and/or Python;
  • Prior experience with next-generation-sequencing data analysis for at least 1 or 2 of the above genomics datasets;
  • Track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant disciplines is a plus but not essential;
  • Ability to keep well-organized scientific documentation;
  • Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills;
  • A strong team focus and ability to work independently;
  • Able to work and collaborate well with experimental biologists and clinicians.

An attractive remuneration package (with health insurance and other benefits) that is commensurate with the qualifications and relevant experience of the successful candidate will be provided.

Only shortlisted candidates will be notified.
