HP-NTU Digital Manufacturing Corporate Lab (HP@NTU) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

The Research Fellow's scope of work would include 2 main areas of responsibilities:

Area 1:

  • Manage day to day laboratory activities and  a team of researchers
  • Work on developing a design and manufacturing synthesis framework for 3D metal printers with the concept of Digital Twins
  • Conduct modeling, simulation, and optimization to understand the design and performance of components, modules, products, and production systems
  • Apply AI techniques to develop the production digital twins
  • Investigate on scalability, functionalities, and interfaces for the framework based on the results from simulation and optimization
  • Support the administration of major research/industry projects to meet deliverables and KPI

Area 2:

  • Set-up and monitor the performance of simulation and optimization
  • Develop metrics to assess the quality of the products based on the results of simulation and optimization
  • Apply a system dynamics technique to identify critical factors in production process and supply chains
  • Write and support research proposals
  • Develop journal and conference articles
  • Coordinate and organize activities related to HP-NTU Corp Lab

Job Requirements:

  • PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering or related disciplines
  • Knowledge of manufacturing, engineering design, advanced modeling and simulation, operations research, data mining, design optimization, artificial intelligent and experience in product design and manufacturing
  • Hands on research experience with manufacturing process
  • Strong leadership and supervision qualities
  • Good writing, presentation and communication skills
  • Dynamic, self-driven and results oriented
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • A proven record of research publications in top-tier journals

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
