Job Description Summary

Plans and conducts basic experiments to meet research project objectives, with close supervision. Assists in performing laboratory experiments and clinical studies for product or material formulation and development. Daily management of laboratory tool, documentations and processes to ensure regulatory compliance and timely completion of project/program deliverables. Closely collaborates with Senior Research Specialists and Principal Investigator (PI) on experimental/clinical work set ups in accordance to established protocols.

Job Description

The Biedermann Lab for Orthopaedic Research at the University of Pennsylvania is seeking an individual to fill a full time research engineer position.

The Research Specialist A will assist in coordinating studies on multiple research projects and perform a variety of benchtop and in vitro studies which require careful attention to detail. Experiments will include biomechanical testing and analysis, machining custom-made fixtures, and analyzing and processing data in Matlab. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining laboratory equipment, ordering supplies, and keeping a well-organized lab notebook. The candidate must be able to follow directions carefully, solve problems, and function well within a team environment.

Position is contingent on continued funding.

The Research Specialist B position will be required to interpret and present testing results to other researchers and clinicians independently. Additionally, the Research Specialist B position will be asked to formulate grant proposals, and write technical articles with minimal oversight.

Qualifications:

Research Specialist A - Bachelors Degree and 0-1 year of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.

Research Specialist B - Bachelors Degree and 1-3 years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience required.
