Applications are invited for appointment as Post-doctoral Fellow in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Ref.: 502241), to commence as soon as possible for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. AlphaHKU at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is a multidisciplinary research group with the major focus on developing new photonic tools which help solve a myriad of critical problems in biomedicine, life science and basic physics. One key vision is to exploit new-generation tools for image-based cell/tissue characterization and bioinformatic strategies applied in basic science and biomedicine for high-throughput and high-content single-cell or multi-omics analysis, with close collaboration with biomedical researchers as well as medical practitioners in hospitals. More information about the group can be found on the group’s Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/alphahku.lab/) and website (http://www.eee.hku.hk/~alphahku/).
The appointee will participate in research projects related to any one of the following areas:
- Ultrahigh-throughput optical bioimaging instrumentation (e.g. quantitative phase imaging, 3D fluorescence microscopy) from single-cell to tissue level;
- Development of new ultra-large-scale microfluidic cell-based bioassays; and
- High-speed microfluidic cell-sorter for single-cell analysis.
In particular, the projects focus on new strategies for next generation of single-cell analysis applied in life-science research as well as clinical diagnosis (e.g. cancer screening).
Enquiries about the duties of the post should be sent to Professor Kevin Tsia at tsia@hku.hk.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.
The University only accepts online application for the above post. Applicants should apply online and upload an up-to-date C.V. Review of applications will start on October 12, 2020 and continue until November 30, 2020, or until the post is filled, whichever is earlier.
