EAP Tutor

Job number - ACAD104730
Division/School - Centre for Academic Language and Development
Contract type - Open Ended
Working pattern - Full time
Salary - £33,797-£38,017 per annum
Closing date for applications - 08-Nov-2020

The Centre for Academic Language and Development at the University of Bristol is growing rapidly. We are currently seeking to appoint to a number of permanent English for Academic Purposes roles for a January 2020 start (or earlier if possible).

EAP Tutor (1FTE and fractional opportunities)

As an EAP tutor you will be expected to teach across all areas of our provision (both on campus and online), including International Foundation Programme, Academic Language and Literacy courses for home and international students, and one of our summer pre-sessional courses. Of your annual allocation of 1554 working hours, 70% will be teaching-related and will need to be done during the teaching blocks and summer when students are with us. As well as teaching, you will be involved in materials development projects (17%) and individual development (13%).  You will be working for a total of 44 weeks after leave, bank holidays and closure days.

We aspire to be a cutting-edge Centre that works with all individuals to develop their communication in academic contexts. To do this we work in line with 6 principles: development, reflexivity, transparency, autonomy, collaboration and transferability. If you feel that these principles are a good fit for your own, then we look forward to receiving an application from you detailing how you can contribute to the Centre’s success. In turn, we will work with you to further your development as an EAP practitioner.

As well as experience in EAP teaching, you will hold a Masters and Diploma in the area of ELT/applied linguistics, and be working towards a claim for BALEAP TEAP Fellowship.

We are happy to consider flexible working arrangements.

Closing date: Sunday November 8th

Interview date: Thursday November 19th (online)

Please have a good look at our website to get a feel for what we do and how we do it. The application should go through the main University of Bristol website. For any further information, please contact maxine.gillway@bristol.ac.uk

We welcome applications from all members of our community and are particularly encouraging those from diverse groups, such as members of the LGBT+ and BAME communities, to join us.
