Position Focus:

Position will support a new research program that aims to understand the effects of firearm threat among women experiencing intimate partner violence.This includes, but is not limited to, screening and recruiting study participants, obtaining informed consent, preparing study materials for interviewers and conducting study interviews, conducting focus groups and key informant interviews, and coding data.  Other responsibilities will include library/internet research and maintaining a bibliographic library database; developing databases, entering data and conducting descriptive data analyses; preparing reports, tables, and figures as needed; conducting and transcribing key informant interviews and focus groups; updating lab website; and translating/back-translating materials (if bilingual in Spanish).  Participation in Human Subjects Protection and HIPAA training is mandatory.

This position will involve driving to field locations.

Essential Duties

  1. Researches and collects data through site or home visit intakes; library research; structured interviews; or through other means for research projects.
  2. Interprets, synthesizes, and analyzes data using scientific or statistical techniques. Modifies and plans research experiments, procedures, tests, or survey instruments. Assists in research design.
  3. Writes and edits material for publication and presentation. Reports on status of research activities. Oversees and instructs research and support staff on technical procedures, equipment operation, and laboratory maintenance.
  4. Schedules and coordinates research activities. Identifies and recruits study participants. Orders and maintains inventory of supplies.
  5. May assist in preparing financial information and monitoring budgets.
  6. Performs additional functions incidental to research activities.

Required Education and Experience

Two years of related work experience in the same job family and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

Demonstrated ability providing support to a clinical research study with standardized measures and in adherence to HIPAA and Human Subjects guidelines.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Strong organizational skills and attention to detail that includes thoroughly proof-reading own work and correcting errors prior to submission.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to report on status of research activities.

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. 

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to administer multiple survey measures without administration errors. Ability to concentrate and persist in various environments. Ability to prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Must have own car and current driver's license to visit field locations.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

BA or MA in psychology or related field. Working knowledge of REDCap, Qualtrics, or other relational web-based databases preferred. Working knowledge of SPSS or other data analysis programs, and data analysis experience. Demonstrated ability working previously with victims of trauma and intimate partner violence.
