Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Assistant Professor in the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 502224), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second three-year fixed-term contract.

Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree or equivalent in microbiology, virology or immunology. They should have distinguished academic credentials and a strong track record in at least one of the following areas: (a) clinical and molecular virology; (b) virus pathogenesis and immune response; and (c) immune correlates of protection from infection and vaccination. They should demonstrate the capacity and potential of high-quality impactful research proven by excellent publications and external grants; experience in international collaborative projects; and competence in mentoring early career researchers and research students. The primary selection criterion will be scientific excellence but we are particularly interested in candidates applying innovative approaches to understand the immune response at the cellular and/or organismal level.

The appointee will contribute to the established strengths of the School in various public health research programmes related to influenza infection, vector-borne viruses and coronaviruses. He/She will also participate in the planning and delivery of undergraduate/postgraduate programmes; mentor junior research staff; and contribute to administrative, operational and other duties as assigned.  Information about the HKU-Pasteur Research Pole can be obtained at https://www.pasteur.hku.hk.  Enquiries about the duties of the post can be sent to Ms. Anne Li at hku-pasteur@hku.hk.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.  Housing benefits will be provided as applicable.
