Job Details

A Research Fellow position is available in the Laboratory of Associate Professor Konstantin Pervushin at the School of Biological Sciences, Nanyang Technological University.

Job Description

The key responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Recombinant expression and purification of proteins by HPLC/FPLC
  • Preparation of NMR samples, both solution and solid state
  • Independently set up and run NMR experiments and troubleshoot, if any
  • Work closely with team members in designing and implementing different schemes of project
  • Oversee the smooth running of day to day laboratory practices and comply with safety precautionary measures
  • Actively engage, analyze and present results at collaborator meetings and review meetings
  • Active participation in scientific meeting/conference presentations and publication
  • Responsible guidance for research students, FYPs and URECA students

Job Requirements

  • PhD Degree in structural biology, preferably in NMR
  • Prior lab experience in recombinant expression and purification by chromatographic techniques
  • Prior knowledge in loading of solid state NMR rotors is preferred
  • Work independently but also maintain a good rapport with team members
  • Experience in operating high field Bruker NMR equipment and related software such as TOPSPIN
  • A proven track record of outstanding written, oral presentation and communication skills

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
