The Primary Care Research Network (pcRn) was launched in October 2017 as a new initiative to encourage and support high-quality research in family medicine for Singapore. It helps clinicians to develop their research skills, participate in collaborative research projects, develop their own research and contribute to strengthening evidence-based practice in the community. The pcRn aims to build research partnerships between academia and service personnel and increase awareness, knowledge and skills in research amongst primary care practitioners. 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop research questions into funded projects that generate evidence and impact on patient care, including protocol preparation, grant application, project leadership, data analysis, manuscript writing and dissemination protocol writing
  • Develop research projects and work with the research questions generated by clinician collaborators and members of the Primary Care Research Network (pcRn) and conduct project surgeries and workshops
  • Teach, supervise and mentor undergraduates, early career researchers and members of the pcRn including curriculum and course development, and delivery of teaching using blended methods of delivery
  • Organise Family Medicine departmental program of research seminars and workshops including program planning, invitations and scheduling, hosting guest lecturers and event evaluation

Skills and qualifications:

  • PhD qualification or equivalent in health services research or a related discipline (eg psychology, anthropology, public health, social science, statistics)
  • Experience in health services research, preferably in primary health care setting
  • Familiarity with the Singaporean health care system and the different organisational models for the delivery of primary care
  • Design and leadership of research projects using a range of methods (preferably experience of quantitative and qualitative methods)
  • Successful research activity evidenced by:
    • Peer reviewed grant income
    • Publication in national and international journals
  • Good IT skills (word processing, statistical analysis of large data sets, presentations)
  • Comfortable working with a range of organisations at the academic-service interface.

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
