Job Description

Duties:

The Clinical Research Coordinator A/B will primarily be responsible for conducting upper airway testing in humans with obstructive sleep apnea. This individual will develop familiarity of testing electromyographic (EMG) studies, respiratory airflow testing and unconventional sleep apnea technology (i.e. hypoglossal nerve stimulation). The work will be completed in a dry laboratory, sleep surgery clinic, and operating room. He/she will assist with screening and recruiting patients, coordinating study visits, maintaining study documents, and managing a database for a clinical trial of adults with obstructive sleep apnea. He/she will assist the research project manager as needed with data acquisition and maintaining equipment inventory. Meticulous documentation will be expected to remain in compliance with regulatory agencies and study sponsors.

In addition, the Clinical Research Coordinator B will be responsible for technology development and troubleshooting will be expected as well as independently carrying out study procedures with minimal oversight

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with coordinating research including subject enrollment, data collection and analysis, and database management
  • Experience gained in a clinical environment, and working knowledge of health data systems
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, particularly the ability to explain topics and concepts in an easy-to-understand, accessible manner both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent organizational skills, including effective problem-solving abilities and detail-orientation
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Background in sleep medicine and/or sleep technology is a plus.
  • Experience with REDCAP is a plus.

Funding has been secured for this position for a period of 4 years.

Qualifications:

Clinical Research Coordinator A:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 1-2 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

Clinical Research Coordinator B:

  • Bachelor's Degree with 2-3 years of related experience in research and clinical study methodologies or equivalent combination of education and experience is required

The job pay range encompasses the full range of employees from new hires to the salaries of current Penn employees with many years of experience and seniority and is not a precise indicator of salaries of new hires when looking at the top end.
