Energy Research Institute @ NTU invites applications for the position of Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research in power system real-time control, resilient operation and optimization, dynamic security assessment, online monitoring and control, renewable energy, and energy storage system (ESS)
  • Develop methodologies of resilient operation and real-time control in power systems, especially the integrated power networks with renewable energy resources and ESS
  • Introduce accurate modelling and simulation tools, efficient risk assessment strategies, and resilient control methods for ESS connected to power grids
  • Publish research outcomes in appropriate journals of international standing and to publish and disseminate the result of research and scholarship in other reputable outlets
  • Conduct and coordinate research within NTU in line with its research strategy and under the direction and supervision of the Principal Investigators and Collaborators
  • Manage research projects in a team-based, cross-functional research environment, which include project proposal and report drafting, meeting and workshop organization, project commercialization, supervising doctoral and master students, research assistants and technical and other support staff
  • Attend and present research findings and papers at academic and professional conferences, and to contribute to the external visibility of the department
  • Undertake specific roles and management functions as may be reasonably required by the Principal Investigators

Job Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Expert knowledge in power systems especially in the operational optimization and control, renewable energy, microgrid, energy storage systems
  • Minimum 5 years in participating power system and energy storage system related research projects and/or commercialization of research 
  • Well informed and knowledgeable in smart grid, distributed energy resources, power electronics related technology trends
  • Being familiar with the local research grant application and funding agencies such as NRF, EMA, EDB, ESG, A*STAR etc will be advantageous
  • Hands-on experience with research and project in institutes of higher learning (IHL) is preferred
  • Strong communication and cohesive teamwork skills
  • Able to work independently, pro-active and result driven

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
