The Business School formerly known as Cass has an established reputation for excellence in business research and education. Within the School, The Peter Cullum Centre for Entrepreneurship encourages entrepreneurship through teaching, research, financial and advisory support to entrepreneurs across the Business School community and beyond. One of its key activities is the management of an investment fund – the Cass Entrepreneurship Fund (“CEF”) - www.cassentrepreneurship.fund – a £10m funded by venture capital professionals which makes early stage investments into growth companies.

We are seeking a Portfolio & Investment Analyst to join CEF.

Responsibilities

The appointed Portfolio & Investment Analyst will report to the Investment Director. They will analyse, monitor and report ongoing performance of portfolio companies and work on investment assessment and coordinating operational processes. The Analyst will assist with new deal appraisal, due diligence and post investment action planning and will conduct industry landscape analysis and competitor research. They will review and build financial models to test forecasts and will organise Investment Committee meetings, CEF events and social media.

Person Specification

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level. They will have a strong numerical background with experience of investment or commercial analyses. They will ideally have had previous exposure to early-stage businesses and their ongoing commercial and financial needs. Knowledge/experience of UK venture capital investment would be desirable. They will have strong communication skills, with the ability to conduct data analysis and write and present reports. They will have good commercial judgement and the ability to plan and prioritise their workload and work well as part of a small team.
