Research Associate in Maity Lab
The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree. The Maity laboratory is seeking a creative, analytical, detail-oriented, highly-motivated, and independent Research Associate scientist. The candidate must show a strong scientific background. A minimum of five years of prior work experience is required for this position. It is expected that the successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Biology or related field.
Responsibilities may include under the supervision of the Principal Investigator, to conduct research in the area of tumor biology/radiobiology studying the effects of radiation in combination with agents that manipulate the tumor microenvironment including the immune system and in the effects of FLASH radiation on normal tissues and tumor growth. Specific duties include planning, organizing and executing research projects; collaborating and interacting with post-doctoral fellows and research assistants for basic and translational research projects; assisting laboratory personnel with cell cultures, molecular biological techniques, preclinical animal studies, and collaborating research projects; obtaining approval from relevant regulatory authorities such as the IACUC for animal experiments. As well as additional duties as assigned.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to prepare manuscripts, research grants, progress reports, meeting abstracts and data analysis.
