Research Associate - X-ray Physics Lab
The Department of Radiology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of tomosynthesis or computed tomography, and knowledgeable about image reconstruction and image processing pipelines is a plus. Candidates must be highly skilled in computer programming, including Java, Python, C++, C#, database development, and GPU (CUDA or equivalent) programming. Applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree.
Responsibilities may include making refinements to the anthropomorphic phantom and lesion models, incorporating advanced x-ray physics into the x-ray projection simulator, automating a more extensive image processing and reconstruction software pipeline, exploring novel model observer software for medical imaging, and developing image analysis methods for VCT data.
The successful applicant will have an opportunity to perform front-line independent research, publish papers in the top scientific literature and develop research training for an academic career.
We seek candidates who embrace and reflect diversity in the broadest sense. The University of Pennsylvania is an EOE. Minorities/women/individuals with disabilities/protected veterans are encouraged to apply.
