Description
The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Instructor position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of mouse work, surgical procedures, muscle function techniques, flow cytometry, cell culture, histological and live-imaging methods will be an asset. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree.

Responsibilities may include developing expertise in research skills, including scholarship, grant writing, and teaching graduate and undergraduate students, residents and/or fellows.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to provide extensive interdisciplinary interactions with other groups within UPenn. Working on related and complimentary topics on basic and applied science, collaboration with academic institutions, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, participation in national and international conferences as well as internal project meetings.

Candidates must have excellent oral and written communication skills in English, able to maintain good documentation of their work and a strong work ethic. We invite interested candidates with a background in Biology, Bioengineering, Chemistry and Molecular Medicine to apply. The successful applicant will have an opportunity to develop individual training experiences in research and/or teaching that will allow selected candidates to attain personal career objectives while developing a career in an academic settings. Preference will be given to applicants with a track record of scientific productivity.
