Description
The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia and the Department of Pediatrics at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seek candidates for several Associate or Full Professor positions in the tenure track. Expertise is required in the specific area of pediatric pulmonary biology.

Teaching responsibilities may include teaching medical students at the Perelman School of Medicine as well as residents and fellows at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. Teaching may take place in a variety of settings such as lecturing, small group, clinical and/or didactic sessions.

Clinical responsibilities may include inpatient and/or outpatient clinical services in their subspecialty, including supervision of residents and fellows (if applicable).

Research or scholarship responsibilities may include an outstanding record of research productivity and interest in understanding the cellular and molecular basis of disease as it relates broadly to lung biology and pulmonary and sleep disorders in children.

Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree. Candidates with clinical activities must be Board certified/eligible in their subspecialty

The Division of Pulmonary Medicine and the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia Research Institute (http://www.research.chop.edu) have a strong track record of basic research in Cystic Fibrosis including ion transport, intracellular trafficking of CFTR, and cystic fibrosis related diabetes. Leveraging access to large patient populations, studies at CHOP are focused on identifying mechanisms impacting a broad spectrum of complex childhood respiratory and sleep disorders. Pulmonary research across the University of Pennsylvania campus encompasses expertise in lung development, genomics, pulmonary vascular disease, lung injury and repair, microbiology, and immunology. With the newly established CHOP Center for Lung Research, we are actively establishing interdisciplinary new research programs in airway and tissue bioengineering, epithelial biology, lung development, and mechanisms of genetic and interstitial lung diseases.

The Division is a vibrant and interactive environment with over 25 faculty members, approximately 8 trainees and more than 70 staff. Clinical programs in the Division include focus on Sleep, Cystic Fibrosis, Lung transplant, Technology Dependence, Aerodigestive, Thoracic Insufficiency Asthma, and Interstitial and Rare Lung Diseases. CHOP ranked No.3 on the U.S. News 2018-19 Honor Roll of the Best Children’s Hospitals.
