Tasks: scientific research and development work in the field of machine learning (ML), in particular the investigation of methods for the distributed execution or parallelisation of ML applications; performance analysis and optimisation of applications using learning methods, in particular for data-intensive scientific applications; analysis of the execution of different ML applications on different architectures (GPU / CPU) with respect to execution efficiency; characterisation of the overall performance of ML applications; generalisation of parallelisation strategies for ML applications and support for the transfer to other subject areas.

Requirements: university degree (M. Sc. or equivalent) in computer science, mathematics or a comparable engineering; a high degree of independence, commitment, flexibility and team spirit as well as very good English skills, as well as knowledge in the field of artificial intelligence or machine learning, data analytics or scientific computing. Experience in working with HPC systems and / or distributed computing (grid computing, cloud computing) and in working with visualisation tools and methods of data management and data mining are desired.
